Each scan's PDF, a small description of it (name, date, page and word counts, the first words, the settings it was made with), the page images it was made from (if you keep originals) and your settings. By default these are in 4PDFs' own storage on your phone. In Settings you can put the library on an SD card (in 4PDFs' own folder there) or in a folder of your choice, and you can ask for every scan's raw captures to be copied to a folder of your choice. 4PDFs stores nothing else. Discard on a scan deletes it; Settings, Apps, 4PDFs, Storage, Clear storage deletes everything in 4PDFs' own storage; uninstalling deletes it too. Files in a folder you chose stay there until you delete them.
Android's cloud backup and phone-to-phone transfer are switched off for 4PDFs.
When you press Scan, 4PDFs opens the document scanner provided by Google Play services. Google Play services shows the camera, lets you pick photos from your gallery, finds and straightens the page, and lets you crop, rotate, filter and clean it. 4PDFs does not have the camera or photo permission itself: it receives only the page images you keep. Google Play services is a separate part of your phone, covered by Google's privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
4PDFs reads the words on each page with Google's ML Kit text recognition, which is built into 4PDFs and runs on your phone. The words are placed invisibly under the page image so you can search and copy them. ML Kit is designed to send diagnostic information (about the device, the app and how the feature performed) to Google; in 4PDFs it cannot, because 4PDFs has no internet permission. You can switch text recognition off for a plain image PDF.
Export PDF opens Android's own file picker, and the PDF goes to the place you pick, which may be a folder, a cloud drive or another app. That place's own policy applies to what it keeps.
4PDFs asks for no permissions: no camera, photos, storage, location, contacts, microphone, notifications or internet. Android adds one internal permission that only keeps 4PDFs' own messages private within the app.
4PDFs is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
Discard a scan in the app, clear 4PDFs' storage, or uninstall it. Delete exported files and chosen folders where you saved them. We hold nothing, so there is nothing to ask us to delete.
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
